Forest Side is an attractive, secluded Victorian stately hotel, situated in wooded estate in the Lake District. It is located at Wordsworth's picturesque Grasmere village. Home to wild deer, red squirrels and a badger set.
This traditional stately home built by the Earl of Lonsdale reflects the style and seclusion of the era, and has magnificent views and a unique and elegant interior. The staff make every effort to make Forest Side somewhere to relax and de-stress. Our guests can enjoy walking around our grounds. Holding a much envied position on the lower slopes of Butter Crag, a short stroll down the sweeping private driveway from the hotel itself, lies Grasmere Village, Wordsworths inspiration, from the creative romantic, to the serious fell walker, there is a side of Grasmere that everyone can fall in love with.

If cancelled up to 14 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled later or in case of no-show, 50 percent of all nights will be charged.

Single basic room with washbasin. Guests share shower and toilet facilities in corridor. Some may be located in the lodge, within hotel grounds, or in the annex which has its own entrance. Forest Side is a no smoking hotel Limited or no view. Rooms ideal for walkers who can see the views first hand, while staying inexpensively.
Twin room with en suite facilities. Some rooms are at the back of the manor, 2 of these are in the lodge. Forest Side is a no smoking hotel Limited view. Some rooms are at the back of the manor, 2 of these are in the lodge.
En-suite double room with limited views. Situated ground floor in the lodge located within the grounds or second floor in main hotel. Forest Side is a no smoking hotel. Limited views.
Small en suite room with limited views
We have a bar lounge which serves light meals and snacks from 6.00pm until 7.00pm. A large lounge with views of the fells and Loughrigg Terrace, is interconnected to the bar.
From the south leave the M6 at Junction 36 to the South Lakes. Follow the A591 through Windermere and Ambleside towards Grasmere. Stay on the A591 at the turn to Grasmere (a mini roundabout). Soon after a lay-by on the right there is a 30mph road sign which is opposite the entrance to the hotel. If you reach the next turn-off into the village, you have gone too far.
